Both companies and societies are undergoing rapid changes.

The discussion around the equality of opportunity of men and women, our aging societies, social inclusion, sexual orientation, or the question whether, for instance, media newsrooms are representative of the societies they cover, all are becoming ever more pressing topics. All these issues require a considered engagement with the question of diversity. Intercultural competence, the ability to engage with people from other cultural or social backgrounds, becomes, therefore, ever more important. It is a prerequisite to adapt to an ever-changing world and to master the challenges which arise within it.

The future belongs to agile companies and organisations and therefore those who can always adapt to new conditions. Hitherto unused potential of the resources of diversity plays an important role here. To discover new possibilities, to develop creative ideas, and to evolve as a result, these are all important to gain a sustainable competitive advantage.
